This maintenance will address some stability and reliability issues that some users are experiencing. As DNS record will be updated, you may not be able to access iKazoku for up to one day until the change is pushed out to DNS servers around the world. Thank you for your patience.

Right now we are in the process of upgrading the site to include “Buddy Press” (a social network plugin) into ikazoku. In additional, we have revised our plugin managements to make it more compatible. In this post, I will address two significant adjustments you might encounter due to the upgrade: first, “Navigation Bar” and second, sidebar widgets.

The navigation bar at ikazoku is changed to increase the compatibility issues with the newly added plugin (Buddy Press).

My Account tab now includes shortcut to the social network site. The original shortcut to Blog Reader under this menu has been removed. You may access the Blog Reader through the back-end and it’s located under the “Dashboard” menu. Here is the screen shot.

My Blogs tab lists the shortcuts to access your blog both the front-end (blog) and back-end (admin panel). Here is a screen shots.

To access your blog simply click on your blog name (i.e. click the iKazoku 家族). To access the admin panel, you will need to visit one level down by mouse over the desired blog, and click on the Dashboard tab.

Sidebar widgets: You sidebar widgets might have been effected. Please re-enable them. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The bug is fixed as of today.

Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums. It’s a service provided by gravatar.com. At iKazoku.com, we’ll utilized the advantage of the Gravatar support. Here’s how gravatars work….

A commenter creates an image suitable for a gravatar and uploads it to his account on gravatar.com.  The gravatar is rated using pretty much the same ratings as the movie industry: G, PG, R, and X.  These ratings are used by bloggers to set limits on the kinds of gravatars that appear on their sites — a gravatar with a G rating will appear everywhere while a gravatar with an X rating may not appear on many blogs at all.

When a commenter submits a comment, the blog’s gravatar engine takes the commenter’s e-mail address (submitted in the comment form) and attempts to find a match at gravatar.com.  If it finds a match, it displays the corresponding image. (The e-mail address is not used anywhere in the underlying page code.)  If there’s no image on file, the blog software either displays nothing or displays a default image chosen by the blogger.

To start using Gravatar, you need to sign up for an account at Gravatar.com with your email addressed that you used at iKazoku.com. Author profile widget will now uses your image from Gravatar instead of the local avatar. And we depreciate the local avatar support and apologize for any inconviences.

  • add more themes
  • friend list is back
  • fix add friend to top navigation menu
  • reimplemented photo page so now it grab photos directly from the gallery in the post*
  • multi-file unloader
  • upload up to 100+MB file size. format supported: movie, mp3, and jpeg
  • music widget – after you upload a mp3, it will automatically show in the music widget
  • gallery photo widget – randomly grab photo from your gallery
  • private post is truly private as that post will be hidden in Blog Reader or a Photo Page same thing with password protected posts except that when you enter a password that post will not shown. Maybe in the next update I will fix this.
  • a lot of photo gallery code got remove now it’s clean and faster
  • use safari to brows ikazoku is super fast
  • will update the avatar later this week, or month
  • move ads from bottom to top right corner
  • reduce 60% ads frequency so that you don’t get too much ads

* after you upload photos in a post, make sure you have the “gallery” short code in the content so that photo page know what to grab
